Laura R. Studen has focused her four-decade career chiefly on employment disputes, complex civil litigation and family law matters, including custody and divorces of high net-worth individuals that necessitate valuations of businesses and assets.  She brings finely honed judgment and extraordinary skill to each representation. Not afraid of a tough fight, Laura also has a deep understanding of how dysfunctional relationships in the workplace and in families can be resolved without resort to expensive and time-consuming litigation.

Email: lstuden@zuckerlawgroup.com

  • Before joining ZLG, Laura was a partner at Burns & Levinson LLP and had served, during her tenure there, as a member of its Executive Committee and a Chair of its Business Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice.

Laura has extensive experience litigation employment discrimination cases and handling complex civil litigation, including shareholder disputes, breach of fiduciary duty and other business tort claims.  Her clients have been family-owned businesses and large corporations as well as executives, professional and individuals in the trades. She adeptly knows how to take each client throughout the spectrum of legal strategies – including challenges involving potential litigation, adversarial administrative proceedings, negotiations, and conflict resolution. She offers clients the ability to evaluate their needs from the perspective of potential cost, estimated time commitments, and probabilities of outcomes based on the merits of their claims and/or defenses.

Her broad experience has helped her clients achieve outcomes that they may not otherwise have reached. She has fostered relationships throughout the bar – with clerks, lawyers, and judges – to develop a reputation for honesty and integrity that enables her to approach even former adversaries in certain circumstances to establish early and productive communications. “This is often my key to achieving a quick and efficient outcome,” she says. Additionally, Laura prides herself on staying sensitive to clients’ problems and complexities, handling their legal needs with empathy and honesty. She takes opportunities to educate them on their situation and their options, providing exemplary client service throughout their legal matter.

Laura occasionally receives appointments from the court to serve in various quasi-judicial capacities. For example, she has been appointed a “discovery master” to guide litigants through discovery disputes associated with complex litigation and make orders to resolve those disputes without resort to having to directly involve the court. She has also been appointed to assist minors needing independent representation.
